Holst birthday concert - Wednesday 22 September 2010

On Wednesday 22 September 2010, Gustav Holst's birthday will be celebrated in the traditional way at St Paul's Girls' School with a concert in the Great Hall performed by 'in-house' stars of the music department.

This year's concert will feature famous operatic arias, resonant organ solos, a brilliant baroque sonata and very rare cantata, a popular Romantic piano quintet and virtuoso trumpet and clarinet solos. The concert will also introduce our new head of wind, brass and percussion, Angus Meryon, who will be joining in September.

The concert will be followed by an informal reception in the dining hall, with wine and soft drinks, canapés and superb live music, peformed by a jazz trio entirely composed of St Paul's music staff.
